Isa Catepillán
Isa Catepillán is an artist and designer committed to the discipline and ritual of handcraft.
Born in Chile and now based in Australia, her practice is inspired by her ancestral weaving heritage and guided by a deep sensitivity to the female form.
Her designs are created without patterns. Every one-of-a-kind garment demands time, instinct and precision, defining a rare process of pure human skill.
With Mapuche Williche lineage from the south of Chile, Isa carries deep respect for textile knowledge passed through generations. Rather than replicate tradition, she expands it with integrity and restraint into contemporary heirlooms.
For Isa, craftsmanship is devotion to detail, to material and to the life force of something made with intention, honouring a woman’s presence.
Alongside her textile work, Isa develops a body of acrylic paintings that reinterpret ancient sculptures. Through paint, she continues her exploration of feminine form, expressed through colour and composition.
