    ISA CATEPILLÁN

Isa Catepillán (pronounced 'Ca-te-pee-yan') is a self-taught textile artist, a slow-fashion designer and bespoke maker whose work speaks about feminine strength and it's innate connection with natural processes.

Combining modern style with ancient technique, Isa, who was born in Chile and now lives in Australia, finds endless inspiration and courage in her lineage of traditional weavers.

The ancestral memory of weaving, inherited from Isa's Indigenous Mapuche roots, run through her hands in complex and sophisticated ways, finding purpose, passion and deep healing.

The action of looping and stitching threads became like running the prayer beads of a devotee through her fingers, and the repetition of the meticulous process is now one more of meditation than hard work.
